Twelve Health-Benefits-of-Water Essential for Life

One of the most significant health-benefits-of-water is that it is absolutely essential to sustain life. Water has the important ability to dissolve many other substances and its versatility as a solvent is essential to living organisms. Living organisms depend on aqueous solutions, such as blood and digestive juices, for biological processes.

In many parts of the world many people are dehydrated because the availability of water is very limited. People in Canada and the United States are very blessed with a plentiful supply of fresh water. Yet many, some say 75%, are chronically dehydrated. This is very sad because drinking water can make a real difference in your health.

The following are twelve health-benefits-of-water:

  1. Water sustains and is essential for life. Our body is two-thirds water. Every cell and organ in our body requires water to function properly.
  2. Water helps prevents cancer including breast, bladder and colon cancer. Researchers have found that people who drink as little as five glasses of water per day may cut the risk of colon cancer in half.
  3. Water aids digestion and helps prevent constipation.
  4. Water helps keep our blood thin (low viscosity). Thick blood (high viscosity) is a risk factor for type 2 diabetes and can cause cardiovascular disease. It is also related to cognitive decline.
  5. Water helps maintain skin health and prevent wrinkles as we age so if you want to maintain a healthy complexion drink the recommended eight to twelve glasses of water per day.
  6. Water performs to help detox the body through perspiration and digestive and urinary tract systems.
  7. Water helps to ease joint and back pain in many people.
  8. Water that is pure, slightly alkaline, and free of toxins can improve our body pH balance and help protect against cancer and other diseases which, cannot survive in an oxygen rich, alkaline environment.
  9. Water protects the kidneys and helps prevent kidney stones.
  10. Water helps to prevent bladder infections by helping to flush infection causing bacteria out of your system.
  11. Water helps to provide a healthy flow of nutrients into the cells and toxins out of the cells.
  12. And a cold glass of cold water is the best way to cool off on a hot summer day. Water helps to maintain a healthy body temperature.

Optimize the health-benefits-of-water by drinking at least 8 to 12 glasses of pure, slightly alkaline water per day. Coffee and tea don’t count. While 8 glasses is the minimum, the amount can vary by your size and how active you are.

Heavy exercise in high temperatures causes the loss of large amounts of water. This has to be replaced requiring more water. On the other hand, We can be real couch potatos with virtually no activity. Even then the natural activity of our bodies causes the loss of about one and half quarts of water daily.

Now it sounds like a daunting task to drink that much water. You can make it easier by spreading it out over the entire day and flavoring with fresh fruit. I favor lemons because fresh lemon juice helps to improve our body pH balance.

We should also make an effort to support organizations that help provide fresh water to the people in areas of the world where water is scarce. The Lord would want us to help them to enjoy the health-benefits-of-water. Choose your favorite charity but help as much as you can.
