The power to terminate or change Gods-unending-love does not exist. By His very nature God is love. Just as it is impossible for God to lie, it is impossible for Him to stop loving us. There is nothing that you or I can do that can change God’s love for us. We cannot keep God from loving us even if we are faithless He remains faithful (2nd Timothy 2:13).
There are many examples in scripture of God’s loyalty and love to those who have been disloyal to Him. For example God did not stop loving King David even though David committed adultery with Bathsheba and murdered her husband Uriah (2nd Samuel 11). David paid a heavy price for his sin but when he repented and asked for God’s forgiveness, he was forgiven. Another example is the Apostle Peter who denied Christ three times yet God did not stop loving Peter. Peter went on to become a great apostle.
God’s love is forever because He is eternal. He is the Alpha and Omega. He is not bound by time or by space, Anne Graham Lotz wrote the following in God’s Story:“God is fully present in every age, in every generation, in every corner of the Universe…fully present on planet Earth and on the surface of the moon…fully present yesterday, today, and tomorrow…fully present with you and with me.” God promises, “I will never leave you nor forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5). We can underline the word “never.” Never means “under no circumstance,” “by no means,” and reflects Gods-unending-love.
God’s love, like Him, is perfect. It has no conditions and no limits. Paul in the Book of Romans said that nothing can separate us from God's love. He loved us even when we were dead in trespasses and sin. He loved us so much that He did not spare His own son, but delivered Him up for us (Rom 8:32). Chapter 136 in the book of Psalms encourages us to give thanks to the God of heaven because His love endures forever (Psalm 136:26 NIV).
Gods-unending-love is extravagant because He is willing to do anything and pay any price even the suffering and death of His only begotten Son to save us. All we have to do is ask in faith and He will make us alive with Christ (Eph 2:5). Christ will dwell in our hearts through faith and we will know the love of Christ which passes knowledge (Eph 3:17 & 18).
The gift of God’s love brings salvation but unless we act on this knowledge nothing changes. We have to receive the gift. He stands at the door and is knocking. It is up to us to open the door and invite Him in (Rev 3:20). Tell Him that you want the forgiveness that only He can give.
